Lambing 2021
As expected the later two-tooth mating date did a fantastic job at prolonging the lambing season. There were three main downsides to this (1) it was a very inefficient use of staff time (2) the two-tooths started to lamb as soon as a storm hit us in September (3) towards the start of October the ewes were already starting to molt, thus rubbing off their painted numbers. We ended up having 15 dry two-tooths which was quite disappointing but may be a result of the injured ram at mating. This dropped the lambing percent (lambs weaned to ewes mated) quite dramatically from 140% to 129%. All things considered we were happy with the the offspring and there are some fantastic lambs coming through, which are beginning to molt at the moment.
Below are the original lambing sheets for this year.
