Lambing 2023
And just like that it is all over again for another year. The wiltshires’ easy care reputation came into the forefront this season as I was battling a sore back so had to step aside and let them do what they do best. They didn’t disappoint. Apart from tagging and recording it was a rather uneventful lambing, the only problems coming at the end with 4 ewes suffering a prolapsed uterus.
We boasted a 152% lambing in the studs this year (this will most likely drop slightly between now and weaning) which is up 9% on last year, helped by the reduced number of dry ewes (11) and great seasonal weather in August. We are super excited about the new progeny this year, especially those that were bred from the new sires and it feels like we making good progress towards the low input breeding ewe that we are aiming for.
Below are the original lambing sheets for the 2023 season.
